Sagkeeng Superstore sets aside hours for seniors
Sagkeeng First Nation has announced that all Sagkeeng First Nation public buildings are officially closed to the public. This includes all Sakggneg schools.
“Sagkeeng Education will be closing schools officially as of March 17, 2020. All Education Staff are expected to be working regular hours. Staff will be working on student packages and will coordinate the proper protocols for delivery,” noted the release.
Sagkeeng Superstore will be operating normal hours with the exception that 8AM – 10AM, Monday – Friday be designated for our elders and most vulnerable. This designation is granted for those with serious medical conditions or any other health related issues. An event that was scheduled by Turtle Lodge for March 19 is still going to continue as planned. An Turtle Mountain, said that Elders met on Sunday, March 15 and that they will be going forward with the event.
“Based on direction received from the Elders, we will be going ahead on Thursday March 19 with the public presentation of the Summary of Wahbanung, on the eve of the spring equinox,” said the email. “The Elders feel it is imperative for them to share a message of leadership with the People.” Cree Elder AJ Felix from Saskatchewan will be conducting special ceremony to protect against current coronavirus threat.
