After being delayed from the original publishing date on the May Long Weekend, The Winnipeg River Advocate’s flagship travel guide to the “Beaches to the Falls” region is now available on newsstands.
“It’s been a struggle over the last several months with diminished staff resources and decreasing advertising revenues, but now that this magazine is out, I’m certain people will find it a useful tool to help visitors and locals alike discover what this area has to offer,” says editor Don Norman.
The magazine includes feature articles as well as really great information about hiking trails, golf courses, and an extensive list of places to go and things to do within the region.
The magazine takes a bit of an editorial shift over last year’s edition. The 2019, inaugural edition was more of a feature based magazine, whereas this year’s publication has more of a travel guide feel, with more destination ideas, better directions and a map to help readers navigate their way through the region. Also, as a result of Covid-19, and the reality that there will fewer visitors from outside of Manitoba, the focus has been put on “exploring in your own back yard,” for this edition.
“I’m proud of this issue,” says Norman. “Even as I was putting it together, plans were forming in my head for some summertime day adventures this year,” he said. “I’m certain it will inspire the same reaction from anyone perusing it’s pages.
