Powerview RCMP make arrests in home invasion

On May 8, 2021, at approximately 8:10 am, Powerview RCMP received a report of a home invasion robbery with a firearm at a residence on Highway 11 in Sagkeeng First Nation.

Initial investigation has determined that three individuals entered the home and robbed the homeowner at gunpoint of money and electronics. They then fled in a black car. Police conducted patrols in the area and located the vehicle, which then attempted to evade police. The vehicle pulled into a driveway. The driver fled on foot. The two other individuals were still in the vehicle and apprehended by police.

Brennan Beaulieu, 18, and Felicity Smith, 27, both from the community, were removed from the vehicle, arrested, and charged with Robbery with a Firearm and related offences.

Later that day, Christopher Courchene, 37, the driver of the vehicle, was apprehended and charged with Robbery with a Firearm and related offences.

All three remain in custody.

The investigation continues.
