With the election this fall bringing in three new councillors, things were already looking pretty different Bouvier and 11. But the changes aren’t done yet. As reported earlier this year, the two of the most senior employees of the municipality are moving on from their jobs.
Scott Spicer’s last day as CAO is January 11. Spicer set the tone for his retirement by getting himself elected to council in St. Clement this past October.
Replacing Scott is Don Doyle, who started on December 10. Doyle comes to the RM of Alexander via the Town of Beausejour, where he had been the CAO of that municipality for the past 15 months. Prior to that he was the Chief Financial Officer for the RM of Hanover for seven years (he has a CPA designation). Prior to working in municipal government he was an entrepreneur and restaurauter. He and his business partner owned the Half-Moon Drive in Lockport until the early 2000s.
Don says that he left his job in Beausejour because he was the opportunity in Alexander was one that I coveted so when Scott decided to retire, I needed to look at the opportunity. “The decision wasn’t as much to leave Beausejour, as it was to come to this area,” Doyle explained. He said biggest reason for wanting to take this job is because he would really like to retire in this area (although he says he hasn’t quite convinced his wife yet).
He currently lives in Winnipeg, but hopes to move to the area soon.
In the adjacent building, Jason Green also started on December 10. He is taking over the position of Public Works Foreman from Bill Sinclair. Green was an internal hire.
