New signs have been put up in Powerview-Pine Falls to inform drivers of the new speed limits that will be enforced in the municipality.
The bylaw, which passed in April 2019, states: “NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls enacts as follows: Maximum Speed Limits on Highways within the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls. At all times of the year, on all highways and/or roads within the Town limits, the maximum speed limit under the Town of Powerview-Pine Falls jurisdiction is 30km/h.”
Highway 11, is not affected by this new By-Law.
Previously, in accordance to The Highway Traffic Act, the Village of Powerview (902) had a Highway Speed Regulation limit of 30km/h and the Townsite of Pine Falls (892) had a highway speed regulation limit of 40km/h.
Council resolved to keep the limit the same throughout the municipality.
There is signage along Dupont Road which states the new speed limit and new signage will be placed at each end of the Town as a friendly reminder!
The local RCMP Detachment is aware of the new Speed Limit By-Law and will be enforcing the new limits effective immediately.
