Lac du Bonnet and Beausejour RCMP recover stolen goods
On October 11, 2018, Lac du Bonnet and Beausejour RCMP investigated a report of a stolen trailer from the Lac du Bonnet area. The trailer was located during a traffic stop on Highway 59 south of Birds Hill where two adult males were arrested and charged.
49-year-old Neigel Ryan Noel and 40-year-old Cory John Oger of Winnipeg are charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Break-in Instruments. Neigel Noel was also found to have four outstanding warrants.
Based on evidence at the scene, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the RM of Brokenhead where several snowmobiles, an outboard motor and a skid steer were recovered. A 41 year old male resident was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property and released with a court date in December in Beausejour Provincial Court.
RCMP continue to investigate.
Berens River man facing manslaughter charge
A Berens River man is facing manslaughter charges after a woman from the community was assaulted in June and died from her injuries last month.
On June 22, 2018, RCMP responded to a report of an injured female at a residence within the community.
Upon arrival, officers located a 57-year-old female from Berens River with serious injuries sustained during an assault. She was transported to hospital in Winnipeg in serious condition. On September 26, 2018, she succumbed to her injuries.
On October 19, 2018, officers with the Manitoba RCMP’s Major Crime Services arrested and charged Anthony McKay, a 22-year-old male from Berens River, with Manslaughter.
McKay was already in custody at the time of the arrest and he has been remanded back into custody.
