Remains found in Sagkeeng belong to man missing since November 2017

Daniel Bunn has been located deceased. The human remains located in Sagkeeng on July 23, 2018, have been identified to Daniel Bunn. Criminality is not suspected.

On Monday, July 23, Larry Wassaykeesic and Robin Fontaine found what turned out to be a piece of a human jaw bone in their back yard in Sagkeeng.

Once they figured out it wasn’t an animal bone, they took it to the RCMP in Powerview. Forensic teams were combing the area where the grisly discovery was found on

On Wednesday, July 25. RCMP announced that they didn’t think the bones were historical, and the investigation was on going.  Then on August 3, the police released the name of the man associated with the remains.

The case goes back to December 5, 2017, when the Powerview RCMP received a report of a missing person from the community. Bunn, 43-years of age, last spoke with family in Powerview on November 26.
