Wheels in motion to find and train a replacement in time for new council this fall
Both CAO, Scott Spicer and Public Works Manager, Bill Sinclair are retiring with Spicer’s last day of employment being January 11th 2019 and Sinclair before the year’s end.
Council met with two consulting firms who responded to their RFP starting with People First HR Services followed by Harris Leadership Strategies to assist council in filling the positions.
Many questions were asked concerning: the consulting team’s past experience in hiring municipal leaders; the process that would be used; meeting timelines with council and the CAO; the interviews to enable a short listing of candidates; and the challenge being faced by council as at least three new people could be sitting around the table on October 25th.
Consensus seemed to be that the head hunting would take place soon as soon as one of the firms was selected to enable council to follow the necessary preliminary steps so that the newly elected council could be presented with the final short list of candidates to select and hire.
Timing is crucial because the successful candidate might also have to resign from an existing firm, municipality, or organization before starting work at the R.M. of Alexander and should be given the opportunity to work with Scott Spicer before he leaves.
