Sunrise School Division Superintendent announces retirement

The Sunrise School Division Board of Trustees sent out a news release on March 7, acknowledging that they had received retirement notice from Superintendent Barb Isaak effective July 31, 2018. Superintendent Isaak is taking on a new leadership role as executive director of the Manitoba Association of School Superintendents.

“The board is excited for Superintendent Isaak in her new role and we invite you to join us in wishing her much success in this new endeavor,” says Trustee Paul Barnard. Superintendent Isaak started with Sunrise on August 1, 2015 and has provided leadership on many fronts including guiding divisional implementation of the MNP recommendations, supporting the Board of Trustees through changes to its governance model, helping with the Board of Trustees strategic planning process, introducing a new Sunrise Reference and Procedures manual, assisting the approval of the new Dugald school addition and daycare project, guiding the implementation of new divisional branding and communication plan, and supporting schools in their quality improvement goals, to name a few.

“The relationships Superintendent Isaak has built and nurtured with staff, schools and communities will be missed,” says Trustee Barnard. The Board of Trustees will commence Superintendent recruitment preparation and planning immediately. This will be followed by Superintendent transition planning.

“Again, please join the Board of Trustees in congratulating Superintendent Isaak in her new career and in thanking her for her contributions to our Sunrise School Division students, schools and communities,” adds Trustee Barnard.
